Frequently Asked Questions

Hopefully you will find the answer you're looking for here; if not do reach out, I'm happy to answer any and all questions.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes, therapy sessions are confidential in most circumstances. Information shared during sessions is private and will not be disclosed without your consent.

In line with my professional duty of care, there may be exceptional circumstances where it is necessary to share limited information from our work together (for example, where there are serious safety concerns). Wherever possible, I would always discuss this with you first. You are welcome to ask questions about confidentiality at any time.

To maintain best clinical practice, I engage in regular professional supervision with another qualified psychotherapist. Any personal or identifying information shared in supervision is fully anonymised.

I keep brief, secure electronic records containing essential information only. All personal data and records are stored securely and managed in accordance with data protection legislation and GDPR requirements.

What will happen at my first appointment?

Our first appointment will take place over the phone as a brief, pre-arranged 10-minute call. This gives us an opportunity to get to know one another a little and for you to decide whether I may be a good fit for your therapy journey.

Ongoing therapy sessions can take place in a therapy space, in your home, or via a secure online platform—whichever feels most suitable for you. Individual sessions are 60 minutes in length, while couples, family, and group sessions may be longer. Sessions are usually held at the same time and on the same day each week.

What are the fees and how do I pay?

Individual therapy sessions are £80. Fees for couples and family therapy may be slightly higher, while group therapy sessions are offered at a lower rate. If fees may be a difficulty, please do get in touch and we can discuss possible options.

Sessions are payable via bank transfer at least 24 hours in advance. Alternatively, payment can be made by cash or card at the beginning of any face-to-face appointment.

I understand that unexpected things can arise and that you may occasionally be unable to attend a session. In some circumstances, a fee may be charged for missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice. Any such charges will always be discussed with you openly and fairly.

How many sessions will I need?

This will greatly depend on the nature of your reasons for coming for therapy and your overall goals. We will create an initial plan and review this on an ongoing basis. The need for further therapy will be very much led by you.
